Goal Setting: we can't say too much about it

I just read a great blog (www.biggerpockets.com/renewsblog) about college costs. Or maybe it was really about goal setting. I've got a few thoughts on this, too.

One point of the article: we spend a lot of money, like $50,000 to $200,000 in four years, on a college education. USA Today reports stats that show that only 64% of college graduates learn anything. In fact, another stat says there are almost no gains in learning in the first two years.  Which is another good reason to go to a local community college. You may as well spend less while you’re not learning anything new.
Regardless of money spent, the fact is that college degrees speak in the job market. And that 64% learned is often what future employers are looking for.

Back to goal setting.
Bottom line point of the blog: set goals.

Without them life is a circle, or worse, a spot. The only way to move forward from the spot and break through the circle is to know where you’re headed. Goals can always be adjusted and changed over time. Why goals, really? They give us a starting place.
Oh, yes, after you set those goals, working backwards from the big picture up to the monthly markers, make plans for the nitty gritty daily stuff. One little nitty gritty step at a time will take you to the exact place you intend.
Just do it.

  1. Goal setting is a very important aspect in business, without it as you said would be pointless in further continuance of such business. I would like to add another and that is FOCUS. They go hand in hand. You will find that you cannot achieve goals without focus..:)
